Halt the Housing Hikes
The Government has dramatically increased its house building targets for North East Hampshire constituency.
In Hart, the Government target more than doubled from 297 homes a year to approximately 734. Compared to the other councils that border it, Hart has been served with the largest percentage increase in its housing targets. In Basingstoke, this figure also rose significantly from 830 to approximately 1,127.
These high Government targets will disproportionately overdevelop our area.
It is clear that as a country, we need affordable homes for people to live in. But North East Hampshire is being called on to build significantly more houses than it has the infrastructure for, which will increase the strain on our community. That's why I’m launching a petition for the Government to urgently review its planning expectations for our area.
