About
Local residents put their trust in me when they elected me as their MP in July last year. This was, and continues to be, an absolute honour, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s supported me so far. I’m determined to work hard every day to repay this trust and prove to you that your choice was the right one.
Alex Brewer MP
During the campaign, people told me they want a hard-working, visible, local MP, as they felt taken for granted by the previous Government. I promised to deliver on this expectation, so my number one priority will always be to stand up for the interests of our local community.
I moved to North East Hampshire over 10 years ago, and the first thing I noticed was the amazing sense of community that's so prevalent. It was so easy to get to know people and get involved in things, and I quickly fell in love with the area, which, over time, has become so much more than just a place to live and work. I feel very fortunate to live in this fantastic part of the country.

Before we moved here, I lived and worked all over the world, in places like Japan, Germany, and Australia. This experience was amazing. But North East Hampshire is the home we have chosen to work and raise our family and we couldn’t be happier.
The more I speak to local people, the more I feel that people here share values that go beyond party politics. As such, I think that our home needs an MP with real life experience outside of politics, someone who can represent the interests of everyone, regardless of their background, living circumstances or political stance.
Having previously worked in both the business and charity sectors, I’ve learned a lot about what matters to both individuals and businesses, a combination of perspectives and lived experience that has greatly assisted and influenced my work in Parliament.

For example, through my work running a local charity for children with special educational needs (SEND), I saw first-hand the impact on families of under-funding of vital children’s services, our NHS, good quality childcare and education. This has fed into my work with another local charity, Harry’s HAT, whose amazing endeavours I’m proud to support as I know just how hard it can be from outside the system.
Before this, I worked for a charity that provided a refuge and helpline for victims of domestic abuse, which has given me valuable insight into changes needed to the criminal justice system to better protect those affected. These insights have proved incredibly valuable to my work on the Women and Equalities Select Committee, and I’m grateful to my fellow MPs for allowing me to make use of my expertise by electing me to this role.

As someone active in the local community, I campaigned for improved NHS and social care services, to stop the sewage pollution in local chalk-stream rivers, and to support those on lower incomes or struggling with the cost of living. These issues have remained key priorities of my work as an MP.
Overall, my goal as your MP is to bring about positive change. I know that sometimes this is easier said than done, but I'm confident in the many people who voted to put their trust in me, and I’m determined to deliver for the people of North East Hampshire.
