Overhaul Business Rates System

We need a complete overhaul of a business rates system that penalises high street businesses while letting large corporations off the hook.

Businesses are being hammered by soaring energy bills, increased national insurance contributions, and sharp business rates increases.

With these pressures, the numbers simply aren't adding up. Businesses are closing, young people are left without valuable first job opportunities, and the character of our high streets is suffering.

These small, medium and independent businesses are the heart of our communities, and once lost, they seldom come back.

The Government's announcement that it will reduce business rates for pubs and entertainment venues doesn't go nearly far enough. We need an overhaul of our broken system because our high streets deserve to thrive, not just barely survive.
