Local GP Branksomewood Surgery, in Fleet, has won its long fight to secure a new lease on its building, with considerable help coming from local Lib Dem MP, Alex Brewer.

After a 2.5 year battle, Hart Health Partnership has finally secured a new 15-year lease for Branksomewood Surgery, overcoming extensive legal and bureaucratic delays in what's been a very long and challenging process.

This has come at considerable cost to the surgery, which had to spend an estimated £40,000 in legal and agent fees, equivalent to the cost of a full-time nurse for a year.

Local Lib Dem MP, Alex Brewer, played a key role in this process, bringing together some of the organisations involved and pushing to help get a resolution on this issue. Staff at the surgery reached out to Alex in her first week as an MP, and she said it’s “been a pleasure to support the Partnership on this issue over the last 14 months.”

Alex added: “I am extremely relieved that the community has long-term reassurance now on the future of this medical centre.

“I'm also looking forward to seeing the new renovations the Partnership has planned, which had to be put on hold. These new clinical rooms will be a big boost for patients and staff, helping to secure the future of primary care in Fleet.”
